Tabloid- A Tabloid is a informal newspaper which s mainly gossip and celebrity based, the political and current affairs are more towards the end. Usually has lots of pictures and colloquial language. Targets a working class audience. Broadsheet- A broadsheet is a formal newspaper. It is more on current affairs and news going on around the world, hard news. It has a lot of writing, rather than pictures and is bigger than most tabloids. Targets an upper middle class. ABC1.  Hard news- Important topics like politics, news and current affairs brought out immediately after the news occurs.  Soft news- Light news such as celebrity gossip, often in tabloids. Cultural, entertainment point of view rather than political.  House Style- A companies preferred manner of presentation and layout of written material. Maintaining brand identity by using the same House Style every edition. Recognition.

Vertical integration- When a company owns other small companies within the company and produces all the areas of production or one stage.  Horizontal integration- When a company works with other companies to create the film, covering different areas of production together,  they could not have made alone.  Globalisation- When you distribute a product across the world (globally) Product diversification- When a product is accessible on multiple platforms, for example, social media or a website- convergence.

Key Words

Key words Synergy- When 2 or more companies work together creating a product they could not have done without each other. For example warner bros could not have made the Lego movie without Lego and Lego could not have made i without Warner bros.   Passive audience- They are watching it passively, meaning they are not engaging and so do not form any opinions or interpretations. They do not interact from the media they consume.  Active audience- They are able to engage and form instant opinions about the text and character. Uses and Gratifications.  PSB-  Public service broadcasting, funded from tv licenses paid by the public. 75% goes to BBC and the other is from merchandise and radio times. Must reflect the diversity of Britain and have distinctive and high quality programming. No sponsorship, no product placement and no advertising.
